Series Idea, Carroll vs. Enzo 65Daytona13

We fight it out for the FIA GT World Championship and the Prototype class with GT-40s vs the 330's

So this would be a dual class race, GT = A, Proto = S

In '63 Shelby created the Daytona to deal with the Mulsane Straight. Peter Brock drew it out in chalk on the shop floor in Venice, CA. In '64, CSX2299, #13 won Le mans in the GT class, Ferrari claimed he didnt have time to develope the 250's due to labor issues at his factory.....pretty lame. Ferrari in '65 had pulled his factory 250 GTO LM's after the FIA correctly called him on the homologization of the 250's before Le Mans. He was producing nowhere near the required 100 production 250 GT's a year, so they were going to force his GTO's into the P class with the prototypes! He sold 2 to private teams to fly the flag so to speak but he was putting all his chips in F1 and the 330 P3 and P4 cars to blunt the Ford effort. So, what would have happened if Enzo and Carroll had duked it out for all of the 65 Season? Lets find out........ (oh and Ive added the big boys also as there was some overlap between the 2 wars going on)

Ive been working on the cars this week, as no one was on all week it seems.
GT class (cant remember the PI number but it should be about 570ish):
(both test cars are in the club garage)
Shelby Daytona:
Stock engine (I think)
Full race suspension and weight and roll cage
Sport tranny (adjustable final drive)
Stock wheels
Sport tires
NO Aero!

Ferrari 250 GTO LM (which is what we have in FM4)
Stock engine (I think)
Full race suspension and weight and roll cage
Sport tranny (adjustable final drive)
Stock wheels
Sport tires
NO Aero!

I'll post specs on the 330 and gt-40 later

Series Idea, Carroll vs. Enzo Empty Correct Track List

Post  hookecho Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:23 am

Revised tracks for the 1965 season of the FIA GT World Championship which hosted both the GT and P classes:

Sunset Full (to Sim the Daytona 2000K)
Seabring Full for the 12h at Seabring
Mugello Full (to Sim the Monza 1000K)
Silverstone Full (to Sim the RAC Tourist Trophy at Oulton Park)
Ideas for Spa??
Nurburgring for the ADAC 1000K at the 'Ring
Le Mans Old for 24 Heures du Mans

These are not good candidates:
Reims public road long distance race
Bridgehampton USA public road long distance race

I've updated the track list and some of the history time line. I'll post the GT40 and 330 P4 stuff tonight.

Ive got the GT cars right at the HP and Torque #'s spot on with the published numbers. The P cars are a little harder to nail down. The GT40 specs are well known, the 330 P4...HP yes but no published torque #'s that I can find. Both cars are lighter in game than in life and the 330 in stock config engine wise is 14 hp higher, so I bumped the GT40 up 8 hp.

John, all 4 are in the club garage with basic tunes on them, granted tuned to me and we all know I am a lighting fast driver.....lol, yes I'm here all week.........if needed I'll gift the builds to you and Huey. Basic impressions are.....the Ferraris are a bit twitchy and I have now Idea why the 330 P4 acts like a kids bouncy castle going around the track.....it drives well but......you will see what I mean. The corba's brakes suck, and the GT40 is so easy to drive even I can put down good laps.

Here is an on-board vid of a Daytona at the 2010 Le mans classic, in class 4.......that engine sounds angry!
