What's with all the adware downloads?

I don't really know a lot about web design, but why all the downloads just to see the basic site. It's great we now have this. You guy kick ass for putting in all the hard work but I don't want to have a bunch of crap running in the background slowing down my computer just to use it. Let me know if I'm mistaken. Once again thank you for taking your time to make this.

As long as your browser is updated you don't need anything special to view this website to my knowledge. They are just ads and I would personally avoid clicking on them.

Unfortunately, to get a free set of forums we have to put up with adverts put there by the hosting site.
I don't actually see them myself due to an ad blocker I've got on my browser
